Fernando Nocco was born in Lecce, Italy, in 1965 and grew up in several areas in Italy between the mountains and the sea where his love for nature turn into a passion for photography. In the eighties he studied photography at the I. E. D. in Rome where he developed his skills with large format cameras. He was the assistant of Giovanni Canitano in Rome, and later he establish his own photographic studio in L’Aquila, dedicating his work mainly to architecture and interior design.
For a long period he worked as a freelance professional. After exploring diverse professional experiences in Italy, Nocco followed his fascination for the northern european lights bringing him first to settle in Amsterdam (1997). He became especially fascinated by Iceland (2001-2007), photographing the beauty of nature and her strong contrasts, and there he became aware of the relationship between wild nature and large scale of human interferences.
For Nocco Iceland experiences has been the catalyst to sharp is consciousness about water issues.
